Scopa
The production of Scopa was my first experience as head of the sound department. This entailed delegating roles on set for the sound crew. I was also entrusted to create a foley database to use for the film. Once again, I had to liaise with the director and composer to achieve a score that knitted together the genre, rhythm and timbre of the film’s themes.
My research was based on films of similar a period and setting such as Bertolucci’s ‘The Conformist’ and Coppola’s ‘The Godfather’.
For this film, I had not developed my skills using Pro Tools, and so completed the sound design in Premiere Pro. Because of this, the final mix was not as high quality as I would expect now, with my advanced skills.
This is the sizzle reel I created in order to give the composer an idea of the kind of score we were looking for.
